You are warmly invited to our virtual Report to the Community 2022 on Thursday 8 December. Due to the recent success of our online events, we will gather on Zoom once again to celebrate our achievements from 2pm onwards. We can't wait to present our 2021-22 Annual Report which carries the theme Journey to Justice: Walking with our Community. Reflecting on our year's work, we highlighted stories showing how we assisted people get their lives back on track, following the impact of Covid and the post-2020 bushfires. Our bushfire client journey maps "Rhonda's" experience as she embarks on a path to reach justice, and the challenges each situation and engagement presents, as well as her emotional state in response to the outcomes and next steps. It's a compelling and thought-provoking visualisation which gives an insight into the ups and downs a client can face trying to get fair legal outcomes post-disaster. It's also fitting our special guest speaker for 2022 is Victorian Principal Commissioner for Children and Young People Liana Buchanan. Ms Buchanan joined us in May 2017 for the launch of the Invisible Hurdles Project and we welcome her back to talk about the benefits of legal assistance for young people and the positive impact it has on their lives at a crucial time. Dr Liz Curran's ‘Going Deeper’- The Invisible Hurdles Stage III Research Evaluation Final Report of the Invisible Hurdles Project was released, showing how this innovative program helped young people experiencing family violence, through a deeper understanding of rights, and the ripple effect of education and empowerment. Registering on Zoom beforehand (you'll find the link below) would be appreciated. This gives us a sense of how many partners and stakeholders will be joining us on the day. Please contact Simon Crase via email at scrase@umfc.com.au with any queries. If you're not already following our social media channels, please give us a 'Like' or 'Follow' on Facebook or Twitter. It'll help you stay up-to-date with what we're doing, and what's happening in our community and across the community legal sector. |
