We are almost at the halfway point of 2021 and despite more disruptions due to the pandemic, our lawyers haven't missed a beat helping plenty of people needing legal assistance. We are pleased to be in a position to give them free legal advice they wouldn't otherwise receive.
Our COVID lawyers can help people in NSW or Victoria, so please keep referring clients our way if they have experienced legal problems as a result of the pandemic. Our bushfire lawyer, Harley Dannatt, continues to help people with their legal problems post-bushfires. This is a similar trend seen after the 2009 bushfires and we expect issues will keep arising into the future. We have welcomed two new lawyers to our team, Rachel Judd and Kristi Pemmelaar, in recent weeks. Rachel will be helping out with our Gateway Health clinic in Wodonga for the next few months, and Kristi will support bushfire affected clients who are facing family violence, and work closely with the Centre Against Violence. Both have fitted in seamlessly and will help us provide the high standard of service our community legal centre is renowned for across the Border region. Where once our Community Legal Education sessions were all in-person, our lawyers have quickly adapted to hosting information sessions online. This has created more flexibility and allowed people who are keen to learn more on key topics like fines, loans and debts, tenancy, and the legal issues family and domestic violence victims face, to participate. We will keep providing this option to suit people's needs, and let you know when these sessions are being held. Across the board, the services dedicated to caring for our community on a daily basis are doing fantastic work, and we are pleased and proud to be part of this effort.
